Each day starts out sunny and we think that this is the day we will finally be rain free . . . today was not that day. Not a wash out by any means and we could see many other storms North and South of us so we drove on through the rain.
At one point early in the day's drive we were stopped for a very long train. On both sides of us the fields were a beautiful yellow color and we pondered what it was that they were growing.
Later in the day we passed fields with blue plastic houses sort of like what farmers use for baby calves. It turns out they are for Alfalfa Leafcutter Bees. The reason I know this is because I finally got my phone hooked up to the internet and was able to do some research.
Of course there has to be the new Province Pic
As it turns out the yellow fields were Canola. We just happened to be here when they are in various stages of bloom. After the plant blooms the flowers turn into pods similar to peas.
We arrived at our Saskatoon campground and the evening was very nice . . . all the storms gone!
The internet should have worked but once again it didn't unless I sat at a picnic table right near the office. I spent several hours trying o turn my phone into a hotspot and was ultimately successful. I called it a night.
