We're in Alaska now! Tok to Fairbanks

Another clear and lovely Alaska day and we are ready to enjoy every moment. The plan was for a short (220 mile) drive to Fairbanks. Once in Fairbanks a trip to the Visitor Center for info and our first Alaska geocache.
A stop at one of the roadside viewpoint rest areas for a couple of pics

One of the most interesting stops of the day was for road construction on the Gerstle River Black Veterans Memorial Bridge. It commemorates the 3,695 African American Soldiers for their contribution to the construction of the Alcan.
Mud on the left and Mud on the right. We were stopped for over an hour while they worked on placing a steel beam on the bridge. The traffic naturally backed up because there was no where to detour . . . we are on the only through road from Tok to Fairbanks.

After our stop at the Visitor Center we headed to Silver Gulch Brewery the most Northern Brewery in the US for beer and dinner. Both were delicious. I even found a raspberry beer to enjoy.
